Sweetener Stick Packs & Sachets: OEM Formula, Pack Sizes & Quotation Guide

Formulation and Buying GuidePublished by Guilin Hengliyuan Biotech

Compare sweetener stick sizes, sweetness per serving and packaging costs. See a 50-stick worked example and the details needed for an OEM quotation.

A custom quotation for erythritol–sucralose stick packs depends on formula sweetness, net weight per stick pack, primary and outer packaging format, and order quantity. Hengliyuan can discuss the formula and packaging for the customer’s use case, then calculate costs per stick pack, bag, or box.

Customers developing private-label sweeteners, retail packs, or portion-controlled products can first define the sweetness each stick pack must deliver. If the formula and packaging are not yet set, the discussion can begin with the intended use.

Compare the same sweetness per stick

In Hengliyuan’s formulation experience, erythritol and sucralose are particularly suitable for blends at 5× sucrose sweetness or higher. For a stick pack, choose the sweetness delivered in one use, then match the blend strength to the fill weight. Nominal sucrose-equivalent sweetness per stick = blend mass × sweetness multiple. For example, a 2 g stick at 5× sweetness and a 1 g stick at 10× sweetness both target the sweetness of 10 g sucrose. These are starting points for sampling, not confirmed filling specifications or universal taste equivalence.

Example blendNet mass per stickNominal sucrose-equivalent sweetness
5× sweetness2 g10 g sucrose
10× sweetness1 g10 g sucrose
10× sweetness2 g20 g sucrose

Choose between the first two options when the target is the sweetness of 10 g sucrose per stick. A 2 g stick at 10× strength instead targets 20 g sucrose-equivalent sweetness: it serves a different dosing requirement. Confirm taste in the intended drink or food and filling feasibility with the selected formula. Consumer directions must match the final strength and fill weight; identical-looking packets are not necessarily interchangeable.

Separate ingredient, filling and packaging costs

Ask for a quotation with a clear unit: one stick, one retail pouch or box, or one shipping carton. Compare the same formula, pack count, order quantity and delivery basis. Check which of these items are included:

Cost itemConfirm in the quotation
Sweetener blendComposition, price per kg and net fill weight per stick
Individual stick packaging and fillingFilm, printing, dimensions and filling/packing charge
Retail outer packagingSticks per pouch or box, material, dimensions and printing
Other charges and deliveryWhether plates, setup, shipping or other agreed charges are included or separate

The worked example uses 50 sticks per retail pouch or box. That count is a comparison unit, not a required pack size or minimum order. Confirm the actual format, material, printing and number of sticks before comparing quotations.

Worked example: three options in a 50-stick unit

Use these illustrative inputs: CNY 17/kg for the 5× blend, CNY 22/kg for the 10× blend, CNY 0.10 per stick for individual packaging and filling, and CNY 1.80 for one outer pouch or box. They explain the calculation; they are not current quotations. Sweetener cost = sticks × grams per stick ÷ 1,000 × blend price per kg. Packaging and filling cost = 50 × CNY 0.10 + CNY 1.80 = CNY 6.80 per retail unit.

Illustrative costs per 50-stick unit: 5× at 2 g costs CNY 8.50, 10× at 1 g costs CNY 7.90, and 10× at 2 g costs CNY 9.00; each includes CNY 6.80 packaging.
Packaging contributes CNY 6.80 to every 50-stick unit in this example, while sweetener contributes CNY 1.70, 1.10 or 2.20. The first two options provide the same nominal sweetness per stick; the third provides twice as much, so it is not an equal-serving comparison. All amounts are illustrative inputs, not current quotations, retail prices or evidence of actual production costs.

For the same nominal sweetness per stick, the 10× / 1 g option totals CNY 7.90 rather than CNY 8.50: a CNY 0.60 difference per 50-stick unit under these assumptions. The CNY 9.00 option uses 2 g of the 10× blend and delivers twice the nominal sweetness per stick, so it is not a like-for-like serving comparison. In this example packaging and filling cost more than the sweetener itself. A lower blend dose therefore does not reduce the complete packed-unit cost in the same proportion. Actual film, filling and outer-pack costs can differ between formats; holding them equal here is a calculation assumption. These totals cover only the listed items, not a retail price or delivered quotation. Confirm plate-making, transport and other charges separately. Recalculate after any formula, fill weight, packaging or quantity change.

Confirm taste before fixing the pack

In Hengliyuan’s application experience, erythritol–sucralose blends have relatively little effect on the original flavor. Test the proposed stick in the intended drink or food, checking sweetness onset, finish and the flavor you want to retain. Other sweeteners can be added to adjust the taste for the application. Describe the improvement you need and the cost target. If the ingredients or proportions change, reconfirm sweetness, net fill weight and cost together; the example table does not automatically apply to the revised blend.

Keep the formula, label and packaging order aligned

Hengliyuan can discuss private-label stick packs for your brand and provide blending customers with the complete ingredient names, specific ingredient proportions, target sweetness and finished-product specifications. Check the artwork and directions against the final formula and intended market before printing. Net content means the actual product mass: 50 × 2 g is 100 g, while 50 × 1 g is 50 g. Sucrose-equivalent sweetness explains dosing; it does not replace the net-content declaration. Separate the finished-product production quantity from the order for customized packaging materials. Packaging can be ordered together while finished products are produced in batches, and unused customized packaging can be retained at Hengliyuan’s factory for subsequent orders. Confirm the packaging MOQ, plate-making costs and agreed storage and reuse arrangements for the specific project.

Start a quotation with the intended use

Send the sales market, target drink or food, desired sweetness per stick, expected order quantity and preferred pouch or box format. Add any existing formula, reference sample or artwork. If the blend strength or fill weight is undecided, describe how consumers will use one stick. We can start the formula and packaging discussion from that requirement. A useful sequence is to agree the brief, compare samples, confirm the formula and pack specification, and then finalize the quotation, artwork and delivery arrangements. Ask the final quotation to identify the accepted formula or sample version, net fill weight, sticks per retail unit, order quantity, included costs and delivery basis. This keeps the packed product you order tied to the sample you approved.

How Hengliyuan makes the corresponding blend

Hengliyuan makes its erythritol-based sweetener blends by fluid-bed granulation. In this common food-powder process, airflow fluidizes the powders as particles agglomerate. Confirm the particle specification, dissolution and application performance against the selected formula and sample.

Common questions

Are the 1 g and 2 g sticks equally sweet?

Only when their blend strengths are matched accordingly. In this nominal example, 1 g at 10× and 2 g at 5× both target 10 g sucrose-equivalent sweetness. Confirm the final taste in the intended food or drink.

Discuss stick-pack samples
Are CNY 7.90, 8.50 and 9.00 current prices?

No. They are totals for the listed illustrative ingredient, individual packaging/filling and outer-pack inputs per 50-stick unit. They are not retail prices or delivered quotations. Actual specifications, quantity and additional charges must be confirmed.

Discuss stick-pack samples
Does a smaller fill always mean a cheaper pack?

No. A smaller dose may reduce ingredient cost, but film, filling, outer packaging and other charges still matter. The example holds packaging costs equal; a real format change may alter them.

Discuss stick-pack samples
What is the MOQ for private-label sticks?

Confirm finished-product and customized-packaging quantities separately for the selected project. Formula, film, printing and outer packaging can affect the requirements; the 50-stick example is not an MOQ.

Discuss stick-pack samples
Can unused printed packaging be used for later batches?

Hengliyuan can retain unused customized packaging for subsequent orders. Agree the storage and reuse arrangements and confirm that later batches still match the approved formula, artwork and market requirements before using it.

Discuss stick-pack samples
What should I send if my formula is not ready?

Start with the intended drink or food, sales market, sweetness per use, expected quantity and preferred retail pack. A reference sample or existing artwork helps, but you can begin the discussion without a finished formula.
