Private Label Sweetener Packets for Hotels and Cafés: Standard or Custom Formula Guide
Choose a standard or custom sweetener formula for hotel and café packets. Confirm taste, serving size, pack performance and a matching quotation before ordering.
Our recommendation for hotel and café packets: settle the drink and serving requirement before approving printed packaging. Start by choosing private label, Hengliyuan brand distribution or bulk ingredient supply. Those routes need different follow-up information.
Hengliyuan has two existing formulation routes. The natural series combines erythritol, monk fruit sweetener and steviol glycosides; the artificial sweetener series combines erythritol and sucralose. We can also develop a custom formula around your ingredient requirements, target sweetness and taste.
Test the selected sample in your actual menu drinks, then confirm the formula, net weight per packet and packaging version together. The quotation should refer to that same configuration.

Choose an existing formula or define a custom brief
| Route | Ingredient direction | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Existing natural series | Erythritol, monk fruit sweetener and steviol glycosides | You accept these ingredients and want to start with an existing formulation. |
| Existing artificial sweetener series | Erythritol and sucralose | You accept sucralose and want to test an existing formulation. |
| Custom formula | Ingredients and proportions developed for the brief | Existing samples do not meet your ingredient, taste, serving-size or cost requirements. |
An existing formula gives the sample discussion a starting point. It still needs testing for sweetness, aftertaste and serving size in your drinks. For a custom formula, tell us the drink, accepted or excluded ingredients, target taste and intended amount per serving. We propose a sample direction, and your trial feedback guides any adjustment.
Compare the two existing series in the same drink
Use ingredient requirements to shortlist a route, then compare taste, amount per serving and cost in the intended drink.
| Comparison | Natural series | Artificial sweetener series |
|---|---|---|
| Ingredient route | Erythritol, monk fruit sweetener, steviol glycosides | Erythritol, sucralose |
| Taste trial | Sweetness onset, finish, aftertaste and preservation of drink flavor | Sweetness onset, finish, aftertaste and preservation of drink flavor |
| Serving confirmation | Select net weight after testing the intended serving | Select net weight after testing the intended serving |
| Commercial comparison | Use the same drink, serving target and packaging basis | Use the same drink, serving target and packaging basis |
Natural series is Hengliyuan’s ingredient-route classification. Review any natural or other label claim against the final composition and destination market before printing. An existing formula still needs review for the intended use and market.
When a custom formula is worth discussing
Consider customization when an ingredient must be excluded, the finish is too long, the drink character is masked, the intended packet does not suit the cup size, or the existing sample misses your cost target. Tell us which requirement failed rather than asking for a generally better formula. You can provide your own formula or a clear application brief. After the formula is confirmed, the blend customer receives the complete ingredient names, ingredient proportions, target sweetness and finished-product specifications. Packaging instructions and the quotation should refer to that confirmed formula version.
Define how guests or staff will use the packet
| Service setting | Confirm before choosing the pack |
|---|---|
| Hotel breakfast, rooms or conferences | Drinks and cup sizes served; expected packet use per cup. |
| Café tabletop or counter | Hot or iced drinks, self-service presentation and replenishment format. |
| Staff-prepared drinks | Packet count or measured amount per recipe and consistent preparation. |
| Guest self-service | Tear opening, powder emptying and understandable usage instructions. |
| Retail or gift packs | Brand presentation, packet count, outer pack and destination-market label. |
If the same packet will serve black coffee, milk coffee and tea, test each drink separately. Include the intended hot and cold service conditions. One successful cup does not approve the rest of the menu.
Confirm packet weight and sweetness together
Net weight tells you how much material a packet contains. It does not tell you how much sweetness that formula will deliver. Two 5 g packets can use different formulations and give different results. If the goal is one packet per cup, define the drink, cup size and sugar-containing or current control first. Compare the proposed packet amount in that drink. A theoretical sweetness conversion can set a trial starting point; actual use needs a drink test. Then check the practical pack: blend uniformity, powder flow, fill-weight consistency, opening and emptying, and condition after the agreed storage checks. Confirm the formula and packet weight as one version before final artwork and quotation.
Test hot and iced drinks separately
| Drink | What to record |
|---|---|
| Black coffee | Sweetness, bitterness, aftertaste and whether coffee aroma remains clear. |
| Milk coffee | Balance of sweetness, coffee, milk character and body. |
| Tea | Tea aroma, sweetness and lingering taste. |
| Fruit or acidic drinks | Sweetness–sourness balance and fruit character. |
| Iced drinks | Dissolution with the intended stirring method, sweetness and finish at service temperature. |
Keep the drink recipe, cup size, serving temperature and preparation method matched within each control/candidate comparison. Water tasting may help screen samples, but approval should use the drinks your guests will receive.
Confirm the packet and outer pack together
Tie packaging approval to the selected formula and serving instructions.
| Packaging item | Confirm for the order |
|---|---|
| Individual packet | Net weight, material, seal, tear opening and printing. |
| Outer pouch or box | Packet count, size and brand presentation. |
| Shipping carton | Case quantity, transport and storage instructions. |
| Artwork | Product name, full ingredient list, net weight and usage instructions. |
| Production plan | Filling, sealing, pack inspection and delivery batches. |
A formula change requires another check of the ingredient list, product name and usage instructions. Confirm packaging-material minimums separately from finished-product quantity. Also agree how unused printed materials will be stored, whether they can be used across batches and which artwork version repeat orders will use.
Private label, brand distribution or bulk supply?
Private label uses your trademark, product name and packaging design with an agreed existing or custom formula. Hengliyuan brand distribution concerns an existing branded product, its specifications, market and sales channel. Bulk ingredient supply suits a buyer that will formulate, fill or pack the finished product itself. State the intended route at the first inquiry; MOQ, delivery terms and any channel arrangement are confirmed for the actual project.
Check the final label before printing
Review the complete formula, ingredient names and order, net weight, usage instructions, nutrition information and claims for the destination market. Match required certificates or reports to the selected product and intended use. Keep the approved artwork tied to the final formula and pack version; a label used in another market is a reference, not automatic approval.
Move from a drink sample to a confirmed pack
1. Send the intended route, menu drinks, service setting and target market. 2. Choose an existing series or explain the custom requirements. 3. Agree the sample direction, control and intended serving. 4. Test the sample in the actual hot and cold drinks. 5. Report specific findings: too little sweetness, a long finish, masked coffee aroma or slow dissolution. 6. Confirm the formula, net weight and packaging version after any revisions. 7. Confirm price, MOQ, lead time and delivery terms for that version. A taste sample is one decision. Printed packaging, filling performance and the commercial specification still need their own confirmation.
Compare quotations for the same configuration
Match the formula version, net weight, packets per box or pouch, packaging material, print specification, outer carton, quantity and required documents. Record currency, delivery basis, freight or tax inclusion where relevant, lead time and quote validity. Price per kilogram does not by itself show the cost per drink. Compare the amount actually used to meet the same serving target, then include the agreed packaging and delivery basis. Do not compare a bulk-powder price with a finished printed-packet price as if they were equivalent.
Send the details you already know
Start with your target market, hotel or café service setting, main drinks and ingredient requirements. Add the intended packet use, pack format, estimated quantity, documents and sample needs where known. You do not need a finished brief to contact us.

Common questions
Can I use an existing Hengliyuan formula under my own brand?
Yes. Private label can use an agreed existing formula or a custom formula. Confirm the selected product, packet weight, packaging and destination-market requirements for your project.
Discuss this requestWhat are the two existing formula routes?
The natural series combines erythritol, monk fruit sweetener and steviol glycosides. The artificial sweetener series combines erythritol and sucralose. Confirm the exact composition and specifications for the selected product; the series name is not automatic label-claim approval.
Discuss this requestDo two 5 g packets have the same sweetness?
Not necessarily. Five grams describes net weight, while sweetness depends on the formulation and its use in the drink. Compare packets against the same control in the intended cup size.
Discuss this requestWhen should we request a custom formula?
When an existing sample fails a clear requirement: ingredient exclusions, sweetness, finish, drink flavor, serving size or cost. Share the failed requirement and actual drink so the next sample addresses it.
Discuss this requestCan one packet serve the whole hotel or café menu?
That is a target to test, not an assumption. Check black coffee, milk coffee, tea and relevant iced drinks separately at their intended cup sizes and serving conditions.
Discuss this requestWhat information will we receive after confirming a custom blend?
The blend customer receives complete ingredient names, ingredient proportions, target sweetness and finished-product specifications for the confirmed formula. The packaging and quotation should identify the same version.
Discuss this requestCan you quote before the final artwork is ready?
Send the formula direction, packet weight, packaging concept and expected quantity for a discussion. Identify what is still provisional. Confirm the final price, MOQ, lead time and delivery terms against the agreed formula and packaging specification.
